Oh, pumpkin pie.  What a holiday treat.  Can you really have Thanksgiving or Christmas without someone serving a pumpkin pie?

What makes it even more special is when you make a pumpkin pie completely from scratch.  To harvest the pumpkin and prepare the crust yourself is a great feeling!

This pumpkin pie can be made with canned pumpkin or fresh pumpkin.  And without the need for evaporated milk, you probably can make this pie with ingredients you already have at home!

Pumpkin Pie:

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups fresh or canned pumpkin
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  In a large mixing bowl, combine pumpkin, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.  After the first ingredients have been combined, slowly stir in the milk.  Pour into prepared pie crust and bake for 50-60 minutes or until middle is set and edges begin to crack.  This pie is best served chilled, so after baking cool and refrigerate for 3-12 hours before serving.

Enjoy!
