As we get deeper into the warm summer months on the homestead, no one wants to heat up the house even more by running the oven. Try out this amazing homemade pizza recipe with an easy, fast-rising dough that will leave your family begging for seconds!
Making the Dough
To start, you'll have to create the dough. It does take a little bit of rise time, but I just used that time to cut up my veggies and get everything ready.

Assembling the Pizza
While the dough is rising, decide on your pizza toppings and start preparing. Now you really can be quite creative here! We chose to add the following ingredients to our pizza:
It was delicious! The wild ramps really did something for me....they were such an excellent touch! You can read all about foraging for wild ramps and our experience with it here. This pizza is so versatile- try out different combinations like BBQ Chicken, Garlic Ranch with Tomatoes, or maybe even a sauerkraut and bratwurst pizza! I've seen those before! I'd love to hear about your favorite toppings in the comments below! Grilling Time!
I carefully watched our pizza as it cooked, making sure to keep the temperature of the grill around 300 degrees. Different grills and different pans will cook differently, so you'll need to watch your pizza closely to monitor it's progress.
Our pizza cooked at around 300 degrees for about 20 minutes. By that point the crust was a nice golden brown on the bottom and the cheese had melted. And the smell.....it was heavenly! D was super excited when he pulled in the driveway after work and this was waiting for him!
We added some freshly picked lettuce fromour garden as a side salad to go with this delicious pizza and gobbled it all up. My son, who is usually a super picky kid and hates eating (I know, I know....seems like it couldn't be true, but it is possible), ate 2 whole pieces himself! This was a wonderful treat that the whole family enjoyed. Plus, if you're brave like I was, you can involve the kids in the preparation. Letting them knead the dough, press it down, and help cut up vegetables really helps them to be a part of the process and encourages them to want to eat food made at home and from scratch.
I hope you'll try this one out! What is your go-to hot weather meal? Share in the comments below!

Our family made this recipe on the grill, and it was delicious! The kids had fun helping make the dough and putting the toppings on. We will definately be making it again!
