They say that the kitchen is the heart of the home, and that's true in this house 100 percent. This kitchen is lived in, loved in, and well used, and that is part of what has made it so difficult to get a few photographs in which the kitchen is actually perfectly put away and clean! A dear friend came to visit today who brought me beautiful flowers, and paired with us having cleaned for her and the flowers, I felt it was time to do a quick photoshoot before the kitchen went back to its normal state of lived-in and loved.
Our kitchen is simple and functional with little accents sprinkled throughout the room. We chose to go with an apron farmhouse sink, which I really love, on top of a white with gray countertop. We really loved the idea of white cabinets, but also really loved wood. We knew that because we have children who have grubby hands much of the time, it might be wise to do a wood on the bottom (we chose hickory), and a white on the top. I am so happy with the way it turned out! I'll be honest- I was really worried about how it would look with two different cabinet styles, but I am really quite pleased with it now.
Our dining room table was a find off of Facebook bargain bin, which we were so pleased to snag! We bought it far before the house was built, and we were so glad it fit perfectly within the space. I love the rustic look of it, and with a vase of flowers on top, it really is a beautiful place to gather at meal times.
